Loving food isn't as risky as loving yourself.Welcome to the Desperate Journey website. Perhaps this will be the start of living life, instead of just doing life. This book is a compilation of data from health professionals, kids, teenagers and women from all walks of life who have a story to tell. I have used my experiences and expertise to mold the information into an easy read that is packed with critical information for any woman who wants to jump off the diet treadmill. There is no easy answer or easy solution. If you are looking for another quick fix, this website is not the right place to look and neither is my book. Weight loss takes work. Lots and lots of work and not necessarily the type of work you are thinking. I don't mean the treadmill, spin classes, and butt buster classes, I mean the dirty work of looking inside and asking yourself, "Why?". Food is by far the most addictive substance in the world because we can't walk away from it. Drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, and spending are all examples of addictions that we can get help with and never have to go back to. Food falls into a completely different category. Without it we die. So many women I interviewed for this book truly believe life will start when they are thin. I am here to tell you that when you are thin, you will be the exact same person, with the exact same life but just a little smaller. Please don't kid yourself - life begins now. It begins today and it begins with admitting that food is a problem. It begins with admitting you need help. It begins by admitting that the relationship with food can be very unhealthy and it is time to understand why. If you aren't ready to take the leap of faith, start by exploring this issue for your daughters. It is one thing to purge your soul with food but it is another thing to teach your daughters to purge their soul with food. Let it stop here. Join me on this journey of hope and courage into a new life where you learn to love yourself for who you are, not the way you look. |

Acceptance of oneself is not a destination or a place to aspire to, it is a journey. A journey of discovery, consciousness, intention, change and hope. Mia |
